Born on 17 April 1962 in Sibu, Sarawak, Datuk Amar Haji Fadillah Haji Yusof is a lawyer by training and a dedicated public servant. He began his career in law before entering politics under Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), where he rose to become Senior Vice President and currently serves as Chief Whip of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS). Since 2004, he has represented Petra Jaya in Parliament.

At the national level, he has served in various key portfolios including Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Minister of Works, and Senior Minister of Infrastructure. In December 2022, he was appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Plantation and Commodities, and currently leads Malaysia’s Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA).

Beyond government, he has been active in education, youth, and community development through roles in universities, NGOs, and professional organisations. His contributions have been recognised with multiple state and federal honours, including the prestigious title of Dato’ Sri.
