Dr. Syed Alwi Mohamed Sultan

Dr. Syed Alwi bin Mohamed Sultan serves as the Chief Executive of the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp), an agency under the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) entrusted with advancing Malaysia’s national agenda on upskilling and talent development.

He brings with him extensive experience in leadership roles across the financial and development sectors, having previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Agrobank and as Managing Director of BNP Paribas Najmah, the Islamic finance division of BNP Paribas. He has also served in leadership roles at Standard Chartered Saadiq, The Islamic Bank of Asia (a subsidiary of DBS) and Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad.

Dr. Syed Alwi holds a PhD from the University of Malaya (UM) and both, a Bachelor’s Degree and an MBA from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He is also an alumnus of the Saïd Business School at Oxford University, reflecting his strong academic and global executive education background.
