    Sutan Emir Hidayat is currently the Director of Sharia Ecosystem Infrastructure. He is also an Associate Professor at Gunadarma University. He holds a Ph.D. and MBA in Islamic Banking and Finance from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), and a Bachelor's degree in Agribusiness Management from IPB University (Bogor Agricultural University), Indonesia. He previously held the position of Dean at the School of Business, University College of Bahrain (UCB), with an academic rank of Associate Professor. Emir is a recognized expert in Islamic economics and finance with global influence. He was listed in Islamica 500 by IsFIN as one of the Top 50 individuals shaping the global Islamic economy in both 2015 and 2020, and continued to be recognized among the Top 500 personalities in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. Additionally, he was included in the 1001 Global Minangkabau Figures directory and received an award from BSI Maslahat in 2023 as a prominent supporter of the youth movement in Islamic economics. He is also a certified shariah supervisor by BNSP and LSP the Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI).

    Emir is also a consultant in Islamic economics and finance for the World Bank Group, where he conducted training for members of parliament and executive officials of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). As a result of this engagement, the BARMM government issued the 2024–2028 Islamic Finance Development Roadmap, serving as a strategic direction for Islamic economic and financial development in the region. Furthermore, he served as a consultant to the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI), contributing to the revision of the CIPA BRE module and the development of its examination questions—demonstrating his commitment to elevating international certification standards in the sector. He is an active member of several working groups, including: a) Co-Chair of the Sustainability Working Group at the General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions (CIBAFI) since May 2023; b) Working Group FAS 1, AAOIFI; c) Working Group on SMEs, AAOIFI; d) Editorial Advisory Board, Islamic Finance News (IFN) Red-Money; e) Editorial Advisory Board, International Journal of Islamic and Middle Eastern Finance and Management (Emerald, Scopus-indexed); f) Editorial Advisory Board, Journal of Economic Cooperation and Development, SESRIC (Scopus-indexed); and various accredited academic journals in Indonesia (Sinta 2, 3, and 4).

    Aligned with his academic expertise, Emir has published a substantial number of research papers in leading international journals. He has authored several books and contributed chapters to numerous others, some published by renowned publishers. He is frequently invited to speak at high-profile conferences, seminars, and forums, including the 11th Harvard University Forum on Islamic Finance, Gulf Research Meeting at the University of Cambridge, AAOIFI-World Bank Annual Conference on Islamic Banking and Finance, IFN Forums in various countries, and IRTI-IsDB (IsDB Institute) conferences and workshops across different nations. In Indonesia, he is regularly invited by universities, Islamic financial institutions, ministries, and associations to speak at seminars, forums, FGDs, and conferences.
