Prof. Datin Dr. Rusni Hassan

Prof. Datin Dr. Rusni Hassan is the Dean of IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance, IIUM. She specializes in legal, governance and Shariah aspects of IF. She’s an active researcher and expert trainer in IF. She speaks extensively as key speaker in seminars, conferences and trainings locally and internationally. She is the Shariah Committee for several IFIs, Waqf, Islamic Cooperative Societies and Association of Islamic Banks in Malaysia (AIBM). She is the Board member for a Takaful company in Malaysia. Internationally, she is the Shariah Committee for two IFIs in Maldives. She is a prolific author for 10 books and more than 200 articles in local and international journals and listed as Top 5 contributor in Scopus publication in IF. She received several awards such as the Top 10 Most Influential Women in Islamic Finance for four consecutive years since 2018 – 2022. Her contribution in Maldives was awarded with the National-Recognition for Outstanding Contribution of Females to Develop and Sustain Islamic Finance Industry in Maldives in 2018.
